1. Who we are
WebsiteRenewed (“we”, “us”) provides website redesign, managed web services, and related consulting. This policy explains how we handle personal data when you use websiterenewed.com (the “Site”) and our services.
For UK and EU data protection law, we are the data controller for personal data described below. You can contact us at hello@websiterenewed.com.
Note: Insert your full legal entity name and postal address here if you trade as a registered company or sole trader (required for full GDPR transparency). Until then, email is our primary contact for privacy requests.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
- Visitors who use the Site, including the contact form and free website audit flow;
- Prospective and current clients who correspond with us about revamps, hosting, or integrations.
It does not apply to third-party sites we link to, or to your own website’s visitors—that is your responsibility as site owner.
3. Personal data we collect
3.1 Contact form & lead information
When you request information or a free audit, we collect:
- Name — to address you and manage the inquiry;
- Email address — to respond and (if you later agree) send service-related messages;
- Website URL or domain — to run the technical audit you requested and contextualize your project.
We store this in a secure database hosted by our infrastructure provider (see Processors).
3.2 Automated website audit
To produce your report, we and our subprocessors may process publicly available technical data about the URL you provide—for example by requesting your homepage over HTTPS, calling Google’s PageSpeed Insights API, and using Mozilla’s HTTP Observatory. This can include response metadata, security signals, and performance metrics. We do not use these tools to identify you personally; they analyse the site you nominated.
3.3 Technical & usage data
Like most websites, our hosting environment may automatically log limited technical data (such as IP address, browser type, date/time, and pages requested) for security, reliability, and abuse prevention. We minimise retention of logs where we control the settings.
3.4 Cookies
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies by default. Essential cookies or similar technologies may be used where strictly necessary to operate the Site (for example session or security features). If we introduce optional analytics or marketing cookies, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent before non-essential cookies are set.
4. Why we use your data (purposes) and legal bases
Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of steps at your request / pre-contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — handling your contact request, preparing a quote or audit you asked for, and corresponding with you about services.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — operating and securing the Site, preventing fraud or abuse, improving our services, and generating the free audit linked to your submission, where not overridden by your rights.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — where we ask for it explicitly (for example optional marketing emails). You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with law.
We do not sell your personal data.
5. Processors and international transfers
We use trusted service providers who process data on our instructions:
- Hosting & database (e.g. application hosting and Neon Postgres) — storing contact submissions and audit records.
- Google (PageSpeed Insights API) — performance and related signals about URLs you submit.
- Mozilla (HTTP Observatory API) — security-oriented signals about hosts you submit.
Some providers may process data in the United States or other countries outside the UK/EU. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as the UK Addendum / EU Standard Contractual Clauses and provider compliance measures. You may request more detail on transfers by contacting us.
6. How long we keep data
We retain contact and audit-related records only as long as necessary for the purposes above, typically up to 24 months after your last interaction unless a longer period is needed for legal claims, accounting, or compliance. Technical logs are kept for shorter periods where feasible.
We delete or anonymise data when it is no longer needed.
7. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data (including encryption in transit where applicable, access controls, and secure configuration). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your rights, we will notify you and regulators where required.
8. Your rights (UK & EU)
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access — obtain confirmation and a copy of your personal data;
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data;
- Erasure — ask us to delete data in certain circumstances;
- Restriction — limit processing in certain circumstances;
- Data portability — receive structured, machine-readable data you provided, where applicable;
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests or to direct marketing;
- Withdraw consent — where processing is consent-based;
- Lodge a complaint — with a supervisory authority (in the UK, the ICO; in the EEA, your local data protection authority).
To exercise rights, email hello@websiterenewed.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You also have the right to complain to a regulator without prejudice to other remedies.
9. Automated processing
The free audit uses automated tools to analyse the website you provide. This produces a report for you; it does not constitute solely automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you under GDPR Article 22. If we ever introduce such processing, we will provide a clear legal basis and meaningful human contact point.
10. Children
Our services are directed at businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
11. Changes
We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change, and for material changes we will take reasonable steps to inform you (for example via the Site or email where appropriate).
